Transmission Automation System

In the mid 1990's, NPR did a complete revamping of all their facilities, including a new satellite down-link to all new equipment in their 450 member stations. Each of their 450 member stations has scheduling and automation software produced by MicroFirst. The system is huge in scope. It is an automation system for their head end in Washington DC to their 25 uplinks through their 450 downlinks throughout the country. MicroFirst produced all the control hardware for the 450 stations (GPI 16x16 controllers, Alarm Advisory Panels and Intermediate Frequency Switchers). MicroFirst also designed and implemented the head end schedule generation software and the automation software at the member stations.
